Redefining Art through Collage
I embarked on a project that challenged the boundaries of traditional art by creating a series of collages. Inspired by the concept of deconstruction and reconstruction, I took photographs of renowned paintings and transformed them into entirely new compositions. This project aimed to provoke thought and debate about the nature of art itself, questioning whether the act of reshaping existing masterpieces can be considered a form of artistic creation.

Modern Rococo

The project began with a deliberate act of deconstruction. I carefully selected photographs of famous paintings, each representing a distinct style, period, or artistic movement. These paintings, widely recognized and celebrated, were considered masterpieces in their own right. However, I sought to push the boundaries of creativity by challenging the notion of artistic ownership and the sanctity of established works.

Revancha

Using various techniques such as cutting, tearing, and rearranging, I dismantled the original photographs of the paintings. This destructive process was an intentional act, aiming to break away from conventional artistic norms and challenge the viewer's perception of what constitutes art. By dismantling these revered works, I was essentially deconstructing the established canon and reinterpreting it through my own creative lens.

From the fragmented pieces, I reconstructed something entirely new. Through a meticulous process of layering, juxtaposition, and blending, I created collages that merged elements from different paintings, eras, and artistic styles. The resulting compositions were a fusion of color, form, and meaning, offering a fresh perspective on the original works and inviting viewers to question their preconceived notions about artistic integrity and authorship.

The central concept of this project revolved around the question, "Is this art?" By challenging the boundaries of traditional art forms and reinterpreting existing masterpieces, I aimed to ignite a dialogue about the nature of artistic creation and the role of the artist as a curator and manipulator of existing cultural artifacts. This project sought to challenge the notion of originality and highlight the transformative power of creative reinterpretation.
